City of Carmel:
Located on US 31 just north of Indianapolis in Hamilton County, recent census figures estimate the population of Carmel, Indiana between 70,000 and 80,000. The location of the city of Carmel was actually known as Bethlehem well into the 1800’s. The Flowing Well Park is home to a natural artesian well. The park is located between Hazel Dell Parkway and Gray Road, and north of 116th Street.
Regarded as one of the region’s affluent suburbs, Carmel is home to the award-winning Carmel Clay School Corporation, with latest statistics showing that 89% of students graduating from high school enroll in four-year colleges. The area celebrates a diverse cultural base with a wide variety of festivals and observances throughout the year.
The area is very popular in part to its commitment in maintaining a balance between family and commerce through controlled city expansion and careful planning. The community supports fitness and well-being through its many parks, including The Monon Trail, an aquatic center, playgrounds and greenways. Companies such as Pearson Education and Conseco reside in Carmel. The area celebrates a diverse cultural base with a wide variety of festivals and observances throughout the year.
Carmel recently began building the Carmel City Center project located by Carmel's Arts and Design District. It is to feature restaurants, apartments, a boutique hotel, a performing arts center, indoor and outdoor performance theatres, and retail and office space.
