Downtown Indianapolis:
Located virtually in the heart of Marion County, downtown Indianapolis offers diverse choices in business, sports, culture and life style. Here you can attend an Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium; a minor league baseball team Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field; or men’s or women’s national basketball games with the Pacers or Fever at Conseco Fieldhouse. The city is already considered one of the foremost locations for hobby and trade conventions in the nation. Downtown shopping was reenergized in 1995 with the opening of the Circle Centre Mall, a complex with specialty shops, restaurants, cinema and a performance space. Within walking distance are live performance venues Indiana Repertory Theatre and Hilbert Circle Theatre.
Part of the local Rails-to-Trails movement wherein former railroad tracks have been refurbished as walking and biking trails, The Monon Trail runs from 10th street near downtown northward into Hamilton County.
As the capital of a state whose motto is "The Crossroads of America, " four interstate roads intersect in Indianapolis: routes 65, 69, 70, and 74. The city is a major trucking center, and an extensive highway network provides a relatively small amount of traffic congestion for a city its size.
Historic real estate ranges from Victorian homes in Lockerbie Square and Woodruff Place to the stately mansions on North Meridian Street. Downtown is also home to classic turn-of-the-century refurbished condos or the beautiful converted Real Silk Lofts.
