City of Greenwood:
Greenwood lies just 10 miles south of Indianapolis downtown in northern tip of Johnson County. At last count, the city reflected a population of over 45,000 in 2007, an increase of over 25% in the past eight years.
Easy access is one of the main reasons for the continued growth. Greenwood continues to work to make its city easily accessible by interstates, thoroughfares, city bus routes and sports its own municipal airport.
As a result of its staggering growth, Greenwood has become a favorite location for businesses on the rise. The area supports one of the largest shopping malls in the state, Greenwood Park Mall. The city’s infrastructure has grown in proportion to the population rise, providing services to the elderly, unparalleled access to medical facilities, shopping and schools within the region. Still, the city remains constant in its efforts to retain the charm of a smaller city with weekly Farmer’s markets, and their annual Freedom Festival.
The Center Grove Community School Corporation is highly regarded by residents and Greenwood High School’s Marching Woodmen have ranked in the top ten for Class B marching band competitions sponsored by the Indiana State School Music Association for over 25 consecutive years. It is also the home of the Heritage Baptist University. The city maintains over 10 city parks for residents to enjoy, providing a quality of life that many find irresistible.
