North Indianapolis:
The three townships that comprise Indianapolis North are Pike, Washington and Lawrence. If you are planning to make northern Indianapolis your next home, you will have many amenities at your fingertips. A surprising combination of parks, businesses, public and private schools thrive here.
The Pike Township school system supports a multi-ethnic population and is enrolled in the Indianapolis Mathematics Initiative pilot program. Eagle Creek Park and its reservoir provide a beautiful setting for picnics, swimming, boating and hiking. Close is Marian College, soon to be known as The Marian University, a liberal arts college owned and sponsored by the Roman Catholic sisters of St Francis of Oldenburg (Indiana).
Washington Township, located in central northern Marion County, is home to popular Broad Ripple with its fun array of eclectic eateries and shops. Nearby Rocky Ripple and Meridian-Kessler locales combine stately and historic homes with mostly small and entrepreneurial businesses. NCAA sports fans will recognize nearby Butler University, a liberal arts college that prides itself on strong athletic as well as academic achievement.
In northeastern Marion County, Lawrence Township balances residential amenities with a strong business presence. Home to the Castleton Square Mall, it is also the gateway to the exclusive Geist
area. Located here also is Fort Harrison State Park, a former army base
redeveloped with surrounding residential neighborhoods and a golf course.
